SA beat Italy at Val de Vie

IN the first event of the highly anticipated BMW International Polo Series, South Africa achieved a superb win over Italy on Saturday at the Val de Vie Wine and Polo Estate. Cape Town’s finest, including celebrities Ryk Neethling, Ard Matthews, Leanne Liebenberg, Vanessa Hay-wood and Joe Pietersen, enjoyed a thrilling day of polo - witnessing South Africa’s 14-5 win against their European opponents in the main match of the day. The South African Polo Association and BMW proudly celebrated 21 years of association this year which brought added significance to the 2010 event. SA captain, Gareth Evans, led South Africa as they fought it out against Italy, the former Federation of International Polo European Champions, in a 14-goal handicap encounter over 5 chukkas.
