THE Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) is running a series of workshops in the Western Cape during March to unlock creativity and help craft producers to develop and innovate.
In the Winelands region, a three-day creativity workshop will be held in Worcester from Tuesday 16 March to Thursday 18 March. It will be facilitated by Leonard Shapiro.
The workshop will be catered for and materials are supplied.
There is a selection process involved in selecting attendees, and interested craft producers should contact Craig Carbutt, the CCDI’s Rural Outreach Co-ordinator, on 083-205-0269, or email craig.car-utt@ccdi.org.za. There is no charge for the workshop.
“This is an exciting opportunity for craft producers to be exposed to new ideas and innovate around their products,” said Carbutt. Participants, however, must be fully committed to spending the three days at the workshop.”
Carbutt said the CCDI, set up in 2001 by the Province and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, offered numerous ongoing support programmes and services for rural craft producers. These range from a monthly newsletter to training and market access programmes.
“It is of paramount importance that operators on the ground get to know about the CCDI, as we can assist craft producers to improve their products and abilities in up-scaling their enterprises. We are here to help and would like to hear from you.”
