ARTSCAPE has an interesting programme lined up for learners.
Forthcoming highlights are the isiXhosa setwork, Amaza, by ZS Qangule, directed by Itumeleng Wa-Lehulere. The play, aimed at Grade 12 learners of isiXhosa will be staged in the Artscape Theatre from 6 to 19 May at 10:00. To book, contact Naboweya Prince on 021-410-9986.
From 10 to 23 August, the Artscape Schools Arts Festival will be staged in the Artscape Theatre. The festival gives learners of all school-going ages, the opportunity to showcase their talent on a professional stage. Choirs, dancers, musicians and budding artists are eligible to enter. Visual displays are also welcome and will be exhibited.
Another highlight for learners is the Artscape High School Drama Festival in the Artscape Arena from 6 to 11 September. This project gives learners an opportunity to create and present an original drama around a central theme. This year’s theme is Moving Mountains. To afford more schools the opportunity of participating and to accommodate rural schools, a mini community festival will take place during April. Approximately 15 entries will be selected to participate in the main festival in September.
For entry forms and more information about both festivals, contact Tania Williams-Kaponda on 021-410-9927 before 19 March.
