Local kickboxers win medals

THE K1 (full-contact) fighters of the Paarl Valley Kickboxing Academy won a record total of 12 medals at the Boland Kickboxing tournament held at Boland Park recently. During another competition, the Rock and Rumble kickboxing competition in Durbanville, Dino Paulse (17; Paarl Gymnasium) and Kirsten Cupido (17; New Orleans) won silver medals for the Paarl Valley Kickboxing Academy. According to coach Russel van Sitters, he focuses on the training of teenagers. “My aim is to turn them into kickboxers, with the aim of keeping them away from the dangers of the streets.” * The Boland Kickboxing Association presents a kickboxing tournament once a month at the sports centre on the grounds of Boland Park in Paarl, with the next one taking place this coming Saturday.
