The Bistro: The Helderberg’s supper theatre, The Bistro at Surfside, Strand Pavilion offers two shows next week. On Tuesday they present balladeer Gerrie Pretorius, and Saturday 24 September sees the return of The Entertainer - The Music of Billy Joel, featuring Dayle Scott, supported by a super band. Tickets for both shows are R75 pp (show only, meals and drinks excluded). Shows start at 20:30 with an a la carte menu available from 18:30. Call 854-4026 for bookings and enquiries.

Artscape: Forming part of the Artscape New Writing Programme’s current season, will be a staged reading of M Cassiem D’Arcy’s play, Red Disa, on Saturday. Set against the backdrop of Cape Town’s Muslim Community, Red Disa tells the story of Tima and Daud and the stresses and strains of their marriage as experienced within their community. It starts at 16:00, at Artscape On The Side, will be directed by Peter Voges, starring Andrea Ariefben, Carmen Maarman, Kashief Noordien and Christian Bennett. Tickets at R15 can be purchased at the door.

Konsert: ’n Uitvoering met orrel en viool kan Sondag om 16:30 gehoor word in die NG Kerk Stellenbosch Welgelegen, Dalsig Stellenbosch. Die kunstenaars is Diederick Basson (orrel) en Rea Prinsloo (viool). Kaartjies (R40) by die deur. Werke van onder andere Rheinberg, Handel, Langlais en Beethoven sal gespeel word.

Contemporary dance: The Jazzart Spring Season takes place at Artscape (Theatre) until 17 September. Tickets at Computicket.

Drama: The High Schools Drama Festival takes place at Artscape (Arena) from 12 to 17 September. Western Cape high schools compete annually in this prestigious event with big prizes. Each participating school writes and produces an original indigenous drama. Tickets at Computicket.

Heritage festival: The Imvelo Feast will take place at Artscape (theatre) from 19 to 30 September. Celebrating the country’s rich and diverse heritage, the Imvelo Feast provides a wide range of cultural activities and entertainment for the family. Tickets at Computicket.

Musical: ‘Noah Now’ will be performed at Artscape (Arena) from 19 September to 1 October. Written, composed and performed by multi-talented Graham Weir, Noah Now is an a capella musical by the genius behind Not the Midnight Mass. Tickets at Computicket.

Glass workshop: A glass workshop will be presented at the Red Hot Glass Studio on Seidelberg Wine Estate in Suider Paarl on Thursday 22 September at 10:00. Contact 863-0330.
