A RESIDENT of Franschhoek was shocked to return home last week to an almost empty house. He had left his residence for just over an hour between 17:00 and 18:15 last Thursday. On his return he discovered that his front door had been smashed open and most of his valuables were missing.

Amongst these items were a Samsung plasma television, a Dell laptop, various items of jewellery including a platinum wedding ring, a Vishorn surround-sound Hi-Fi system and DVD player, a MultiChoice decoder and bedding.

It appears that the thieves had a vehicle waiting for them to load their loot into.
