MEMORIAL WALK
* On 24 April a memorial walk will be held in memory of the late Thys de Vries (Boland Athletics Race Walking coach) who died tragically last year in the Paarl Print fire. Social and race walkers of all ages are welcome to enter in any one of the 10km categories (masters; seniors R29; juniors; 5km Fun Walk R15). Medals will be awarded to all walkers and big prizes can be won. Entry forms are available from Elsabé Rudolf at 34 Ghwarrie Avenue, New Orleans. Contact 021-862-1251 or 078-373-0447.
* On 27 April the JW Sinclair 5x3 km Boland Cross Country Relay League race will be held at the Allandale Correctional Centre at 14:00, in memory of Mina Faro. A team will consist of five runners/walkers in the different categories (senior men and women; masters mix; junior boys and girls - u.12, u.13; u.15; u.17; u.19). Each participant will have to complete a lap of 3km. Entries close on 25 April at 17:00. Costs are R100 per senior team and R50 per junior team. POLO AT VAL DE VIE
The Sabrage Masters Polo event is set to take place at the Val de Vie Wine & Polo Estate on Saturday 24 April. Gates will open to the public at 14:30, with the dress theme ‘all white’. The match will kick off at 16:00. A women’s bareback horse race will also be held and the master of ceremonies will be Sasha Martinengo of 5FM. An after party will also be held, with DJ Sasha Martinengo (and other DJ’s) in action.
SAFARI HALF-MARATHON
Runners and walkers are reminded to get their entries in for the Safari Half-Marathon, which takes place in Wellington on Workers’ Day, Saturday 1 May. Entries close at midnight this Sunday 18 April and no late entries will be accepted. Participants can enter online at www.safarihalfmarathon.co.za.
