MEMORIAL WALK
* On 24 April a memorial walk will be held, starting at Allandale prison, in memory of the late Thys de Vries (Boland Athletics Race Walking coach) who died tragically last year in the Paarl Print fire. Social and race walkers of all ages are welcome to enter in any one of the 10km (08:00) or 5km (08:15) categories. Medals will be awarded to all walkers and big prizes can be won. * On 27 April the JW Sinclair 5x3km Boland Cross-Country Relay League race will be held at the Allandale Correctional Centre at 14:00, in memory of Mina Faro. A team will consist of five runners/walkers in the different categories (senior men and women; masters mix; junior boys and girls - u.12, u.13; u.15; u.17; u.19). Each participant will have to complete a lap of 3km. Entries close on 25 April at 17:00. Costs are R100 per senior team and R50 per junior team. FULL MOON HIKE
The last full moon hike of the season will take place on Klapmuts Koppie on Freedom Day (27 April) at the Dirtopia Trail Centre, Delvera Farm, R44 between Stellenbosch and Klapmuts. GHOLFDAG VIR WELSYN
* Die jaarlikse gholfdag ten bate van die organisasie Gemeente-Ontwikkeling en Kerklike Samewerking (GKS) wat samewerking bevorder tussen die NG Kerk en VGK, word op Vrydag 7 Mei by die Paarl-gholfklub gehou. Inskrywingsgeld is R1600 per vierbal. Die opbrengs word aangewend vir die ontwikkeling van minderbevoorregte gemeentes. Indien u ’n vierbal inskryf en ’n bof borg, sal die koste vir beide inskrywings R2 600 beloop. Vir navrae, kontak Jackie Swart by 021-957-7202.
* Die Down Sindroom-vereniging van Kaapland hou hulle jaarlikse gholfdag op 14 Mei by die Wellington Gholfklub. Dié vierbal-samespel (alliance) gholfdag begin om 10:00. Die inskrywingsgeld is R300 per speler wat ’n aandete, verversings op die baan, pryse en ’n “goodie” bag insluit. Daar sal ook ’n veiling plaasvind. POLO AT VAL DE VIE
The Sabrage Masters polo event is set to take place at the Val de Vie Wine & Polo Estate on Saturday 24 April. Gates will open to the public at 14:30, with the dress theme ‘all white’. The match will kick off at 16:00. A women’s bareback horse race will also be held and the master of ceremonies will be Sasha Martinengo of 5FM. An after party will also be held, with DJ Sasha Martinengo (and other DJ’s) in action.
