Superb cycling in Super Series
2010-04-22
THE first event of the new Drakenstein Super Cycle Series will kick off on Saturday at the Florida Padstal on the R45 in Wellington. With one race per month, the entire series, which is open for all age categories, will eventually consist of 12 races (over 12 months). After each race, points will be awarded to cyclists according to their performances. Winners will be announced quarterly (after every three races), with all the points coming into reckoning when the big winner is announced after completion of all 12 races. The general aim of the series is to keep cyclists sharp and to promote the sport in the Drakenstein and Western Cape. Therefore a fun ride will also form part of each event, for the more social riders. Races in the different categories for this Saturday’s event, will start at the following times (routes included): u.16’s (08:00 - Paardeberg route; 1 big/1 small); u.10’s - u.14’s (08:10 - Paardeberg; 1 big); Funride (08:20 - Paardeberg, 1 big); Vets 30+ (08:30 - 2nd/3d Wellington circuit; 7 laps); Vets 40+ (08:40 - 2nd/3rd Wellington circuit; 6 laps); Ladies (08:50 - u.16 route); Open (12:00 - 2nd/3rd circuit; 9 laps). Cyclists need to be at the venue at least one hour before the start of his/her category. According to the organisers of the Drakenstein Super Cycle Series, the Drakenstein Traffic department has given its full support for the event over the next twelve months.
