I WOULD like to respond to the letter about immigrant car guards (“Should he be here at all?” of 15 April).
I wonder if the letter writer realises that immigrants cannot get permanent residence for their first five years in this country - even if they marry a South African. Thus it is impossible for such a person to get a proper job or register for medical aid.
