THE Paarl Police in co-operation with a security firm, were able to nab four suspected robbers in Kloof Street last week. At 04:00 on Thursday morning. an ADT security guard who was on a routine patrol near the ADT station at the corner of Kleine Molen and Kloof Streets, noticed four men pushing a VW Golf out of a driveway of a house nearby. When he approached them in his patrol vehicle, the men jumped into the Golf and sped away. Paarl Police were immediately informed about the incident, and with the help of the ADT officer who gave chase, the vehicle was brought to a halt in Retief Street, Paarl North. On further investigation it was discovered that the car had been stolen earlier that evening in Amstelhof, Paarl East. In addition, one of the occupants of the vehicle was currently out on parole and is a known burglar in the area, according to the police. The men have been charged with vehicle theft, but cannot currently be linked to any crime in the Kloof Street area. It is however suspected that they were up to no good.
