PAARL will, from May, join the other major South African philatelic centres, with the launch of what is planned to become a regular monthly Stamp Fair, alternating between Paarl and Stellenbosch.

The inaugural Paarl Stamp Fair will be held on 15 May at the Drakenstein Primary School Hall, in Denneburg, Paarl, from 09:00 to 14:00.

Stamp collecting, renowned as “the King of Hobbies and the Hobby of Kings”, has been promoted internationally and bolstered significantly by such get-togethers of stamp collectors, dealers and other interested parties, and will now bring similar benefits to the local philatelic scene. While there are several stamp clubs in the Western Cape, where members meet regularly, there has not been a market place in the Boland region for dealers and collectors to come together under one roof.

Approximately ten dealers, some well-known and others part-time, will be present, buying and selling philatelic material, as well as offering free expert advice and answering questions.

Various local philatelic societies will also be represented, to encourage the hobby and new membership. So, if you have a collection you may have inherited, or want to know the value of stamps and other postal material you own, this is an ideal opportunity to obtain guidance from experts. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
