Lowan excels in Kayamandi Classic

TWO Winelands basketball league tournaments were held at Paarlzicht Primary this past weekend, the Kayamandi Classic for high school teams as well as a primary schools tournament. Paarl School of skills won the Kayamandi Classic, lead by tournament Most Valuable Player, Lowen Solomons whose three months of basketball training in the USA last year seemed to have paid off. Solomons stole the show, averaging 20 points per game. PSS beat Paulus Joubert, Ligstraal and Kayamandi to claim gold. Kayamandi came second with Paulus Joubert finishing in third spot. The tournament victory raises the Paarl School of Skills’ record to 7-0 this season as they sit on top of the Winelands Basketball League Silver Division. The primary schools’ tournament was won by Solms Delta, who currently tops the boys’ division in the league with 110 points. PC Peterson leads the girls’ division with 141 points.
