Helpful social services set a good example
2005-09-15
I WOULD like to take this opportunity the praise the staff at the Department of Social Services in Paarl.
During the week of 15 August, my parents-in-law (aged 78) applied for their old age pension for the first time. The staff at the reception desk were friendly and very helpful.
My mother-in-law is in a wheelchair and because of this, the waiting time was reduced to a minimum.
The first gentleman who helped us was very informed and could tell us exactly what information was needed and which forms we had to complete. The lady who assisted us with the affidavits was absolutely charming.
Once all the information was gathered we left and returned on Friday 18 August. We were shown into another office where another helpful lady completed the application forms.
After this the supervisor (Mr Steven Frolicks) was called to assess the information. His charm and sense of humour was much appreciated.
We do not know the names of all the staff who attended to us so we cannot thank them personally.
Too often we are so quick to complain, but so rarely pay any compliments when such wonderful service is received. Well done to the staff at the Paarl Department of Social Services, you are a shining example to the rest of the country.
