PAUL HANMER will perform some of his works for solo piano in the Endler Concert Series on 5 June at 20:00.
The Endler Hall is considered by many to be South Africa’s premier classical music concert hall. The Endler Concert Series has in recent years however embarked on more culturally diverse and innovative programming, hence the inclusion of Hanmer, one of South Africa’s most prolific and widely recorded jazz composer performers.

Over the years he has developed a very personal and distinctive style based on his classical training, but incorporating elements of ghoema, rural church choir, Xhosa influences, some reflections of American-style jazz, and at times, even an evocation of Debussy is evident.

The programme will include a selection of works that he has recorded and performed extensively over the last 15 years including Naivasha, Gymnopedie Bleu, Bossy Bossa, Prop-Hat, Trains to Taung, Severn, Katpoot en Kruis, Neli Walking, and The White Sand of the Flats.

Tickets are available at Computicket outlets or on 083-915-8000. Prices are R85 (R65 for student/pensioner), excluding a Computicket service charge.

The box office at the Endler Hall will open at 19:00 on the night. Contact 021-808-2343 during office hours.
