CABARET artist Leon Büchner will perform his show A Star is Torn at Simonsvlei on Thursday 29 September.
A Star is Torn is a multi-media production about six divas - Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Edit Piaf, Judy Garland, Dinah Washington and Janis Joplin.
Why were they all burnt out before they could reach their forties?
Musically these women made a huge contribution in genres ranging from blues to rock with songs like Over the Rainbow, Mercedes Benz, Non Je ne regrette Rien and I cried for you.
Büchner has a deep voice, the type that gives full value to a torch song.
