Pretty Things for Little Things

IT is the time of the year again when senior citizens get the chance to show their creative and caring side by entering The Pretty Things for Little Things competition. Besides bringing joy to the heart of a needy child, you could also win some great prizes. There are four categories and here’s some ideas what you can make: items of clothing, soft toys, fluffy blankets, or items made from wood or metal. You can enter one or all categories and there’s no limit to the number of entries, but remember items must be practical, durable and safe for children to wear or to play with. The competition runs from 1 June to 31 August and all items will be handed out to the children before Christmas this year. All items will be judged and if your article wins a first prize provincially, it will then go into the national draw which means you stand a chance to winning nationally as well. Anyone is welcome to enter the competition if they’d like to support the cause, but prizes are for those over the age of 60 only. Entry forms will be available at the money market counter at all Shoprite Checkers and Checkers Hyper Stores countrywide, as well as from any Age-in-Action office and this is also where the items must be returned to before the closing date.
