Paarl Post shines

PAARL POST’S editorial team shone at the recent Sanlam Community Press Awards in Johannesburg for which 482 journalists from 197 newspapers entered.
Four Paarl post staffers were called to the podium to receive awards, including editor Anne Kruger for Best Front Page (sold newspapers).
Leon Steenkamp edged out the competition to win first and second place in the sports photogaph category.
He was also placed third in the portrait category and third overall in the category Press Photographer of the Year (an award he won in 2003).
Susan Botha was first runner-up in the category for Local Government, while Malané Bosman was placed third in Hard News.
Paarl Post, last year’s winner of the award for Newspaper of the Year, was once again commended by the judges and placed third in the section for best sold newspaper.
Paarl Post staff also featured among the top ten in virtually every category, including promotions, where Chantel Pfaff was placed 6th and Ilse fourie 9th.
Susan Botha, Malané Bosman and Anne Kruger were among the top ten journalists, with Steenkamp and Bosman among the top ten photographers.
