TO celebrate Bastille Day, La Motte Estate will host a special French Baroque Concert on Saturday 17 July at 19:00.
The programme will consist of a selection of French Baroque works seldom, if ever, heard in South African concert venues.
Making use of period instruments, such as the baroque flute and viola da gamba, the music is fully representative of this genre.
In terms of musical interpretation it is attempted to understand the style elements, technique and original context of the compositions, while the equal temperament of modern playing is replaced by baroque tuning to suit the instruments.
Utilising authentic period instruments, Lente Louw (soprano), Merryl Monard (traverso/baroque flute), Aninka Harms (violin), Colleen Oxtoby (Viola da Gamba) and Andrew Cruickshank (harpsichord) go to great lengths to perfect their presentation of French creations.
Tickets cost R140 per person. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of La Motte MCC upon arrival and a light finger dinner will be served once the performance has ended.
Bookings for the concert can be made at the La Motte tasting venue or by phoning 021-876-8801 for Angela.
