Expansion plans at the Paarl Mall
2010-07-01
DESPITE delays due to the economic downturn, expansion plans are in the pipeline at Paarl Mall. Land to the south of the Mall has been acquired for further development by the Mall, while an adjoining land owner, Fritz Smit, is also planning to develop his property at the eastern entrance to the mall. The site of 2,1 hectares is likely to be developed into an office park and business development. The proposal was recently approved by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning. The original historic home on the site will be retained, while outbuildings will be demolished. A maximum of 460 parking bays are planned, some of them below ground level. All interested and affected parties that wish to appeal the decision must do so within 30 days.
