THE London Song Circle - comprising Dutch mezzo-soprano Margriet van Reisen and leading South African classical musicians, pianist Mark Nixon and soprano Erica Eloff - will perform at the Nederburg concert at 17:00 on 25 July.
The talented trio will perform works by Henry Purcell, Robert Schumann, Sergei Rachmaninov and Benjamin Britten.
The programme will also include opus 61 by Johannes Brahms, a selection of Mazurkas by Frederic Chopin and songs for Women’s Voices by Roger Quilter.
They have recently released a CD which will be available at the concert. It includes the world première recording of Slaap klein Beminde, a poem by Breyten Breytenbach set to music by the award-winning SA composer, James Wilding.
The recital forms part of the annual Nederburg Concert Series which contribute to the Western Cape’s cultural life with classical music recitals by world-class local and international musicians. Tickets are R150 and include a welcoming drink and a light supper served with wine. Book on 021-809-8344.
