Lay counsellors wanted for schools

Lay counsellors wanted for schools

2010-07-29

THE Paarl Association of School Governing Bodies is concerned about the social problems at local schools, and plans to appoint a number of voluntary lay counsellors to assist youngsters.

They will assist learners with disciplinary needs, help them overcome drug abuse and address the access of drugs into schools.

Key functions will be arranging special programmes for learners at risk, organising prevention programmes (awareness and advocacy projects) and support learners at risk. Successful candidates will be trained as lay counsellors with the option of furthering their studies in this field. Applicants must be 18 years or older, have a Grade 12 certificate and be able to work with people. Applications close tomorrow at 16:00. Hand in your application letter with short CV at the RDP office at the Huguenot Community Hall or fax it to 021-862-2888, or email it to drakenstein@telkomsa.net. For enquiries, phone J Sitzer on 021-862-4366.
