* Pianist. Award-winning pianist Young-Choon Park will perform a programme through the ages of Scarlatti, Schumann and Chopin on 7 August at the Endler Hall in Stellenbosch at 20:00. * Art. An exhibition of paintings by Olaf Bisschoff and new ceramics pieces by John Newdigate and Ian Garrett will open at the Ebony art gallery in Franschhoek on Sunday 8 August at 12:00. Works by Clementina van der Walt, Hannes Harrs, Gordon Vorster, Warrick Kemp, Caroline van der Merwe, Cecil Skotnes and Nicolene Swanepoel can also be seen.
* Photographic works. An exhibition of photographic works opens at IS ART at Le Quartier Francais in Fran­schhoek on Sunday 8 August. Photographic work by Marc Stanes, Clint Stry-dom and Strijdom van der Merwe will be on view, as well as bronze sculptures by Guy du Toit. Images of Strijdom van der Merwe’s Land Art Projects will be on view in the Screening Room next to IS Art. This exhibitiruns until the first week of September.
* Lag. Kom lag lekker saam wanneer Lagnes sorg vir lekker vermaak op Vrydag 27 Augustus om 20:00 by die Ou Meul-teater. Kaartjies is R25 per persoon en kan bespreek word by Vicky Stemmet by 083-564-0056.
* Sing. Nianell, die vrou met die stem van ’n engel, tree op 20 Augustus by Rhebokskloof Wynlandgoed in die Paarl op.

Nie alleen is Nianell genomineer as liedjieskrywer van die jaar vir vanjaar se Los Angeles Musiektoekennings nie, maar sy het ook onlangs saam met supertenoor Andrea Bocelli gesing by die afsluitingskonsert van die Sokkerwêreldbeker.

Nianell sal ou en nuwe treffers sing, onder andere van haar uitstekende nuwe album Sand & Water.

* Concert. On 11 August at 19:00, soprano Pretty Yende and friends will perform at the Cape Town City Hall in a Gala Concert to raise funds for the Diemersfontein “Excellence out of Africa” Bur-sary Trust.

Performing with Pretty Yende are Elizabeth Frandsen (mezzo-soprano), Given Nkosi (tenor), Luthando Qave (baritone), July Zuma (tenor), Sarah Acres (cello) and Albert Combrink (piano).

Pretty Yende recently performed with superstars Andrea Bocelli and Bryan Adams in the FIFA 2010 World Cup closing concert.

Proceeds of the evening will go to the “Excellence out of Africa Trust” to raise funds for gifted South African musicians and artists - assisting them to show South Africa’s talent to the world.
