SCHLOMS CLAIMS VICTORY
The 2010 K1 Olifants canoe race, was held in perfect weather. Heinrich Schloms of Paarl Canoe Club came first overall in a time of 3 hours 08 minutes and 11 seconds. Other Paarlites in the top ten were Mynhard Marais (4th, 3:21:05) and Giel van Deventer (10th in 3:39:56 and first master home). While Daniel-Louis Buys (17th overall, 4:48:03) won the junior division, Paarl’s senior canoeists also fared well. Neil Bartie came second in the masters’ section and Peter Mager came second in the sub grandmasters’ section.
