Coaching clinic in honour of long jump star

A COACHING clinic and a gala dinner will take place on Friday 27 August in Paarl, in honour of Luvo Manyonga who won the gold medal at the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships.
Manyonga also set a new SA record of 8,19m in the junior long jump for men. The gala event is a joint venture between Boland Athletics, Drakenstein Municipality and Desmund Tutu Secondary School. The guest speaker at the gala dinner will be Kgotso Mokoena, the current Olympic Games and IAAF World Championships silver medallist in long jump. Mokoena will be at the Dal Josaphat Stadium on 27 August from 14:30 to 17:00 to conduct a coaching clinic for all athletes interested in long jump. Mokoena will be accompanied by Hezekiel Sepeng, a past Olympic Games and IAAF World Championships silver medallist in the 800m. Sepeng will also be conducting a coaching clinic for all athletes interested in middle distance running. The Boland Athletics Pole Vault Academy will be demonstrating pole vaulting to the athletes. A number of SA pole vault champions will be in action during the afternoon. Some of the top coaches in South Africa will demonstrate the technique of sprinting, hurdling, high jump, shot put, discus etc. The gala evening will be by invitation only, but the coaching clinic is open to all.
