Friends of Paarl Mountain walk
2005-09-29
THE Friends of Paarl Mountain will be joined by the Fynbos Fanatics from Kirstenbosch for a spring walk through the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The Fynbos Fanatics are a group of fynbos enthusiasts who are knowledgeable about the different aspects of fynbos ecosystems and will help to identify plant species and learn more about the geological formations on Paarl Mountain.
Meet at the main gate of the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve at 14:00 on Sunday.
They will be walking through the area that burnt in January. Please bring your own refreshments.
* There will be a “joint hack” with the Friends of the Tygerberg Hills on Saturday 15 October starting at 09:00 at the Orleans Park campsite.
Orleans Park has an amazing remnant patch of endangered fynbos containing the last remaining population of the daisy Marasmodes undulata.
The Friends of Paarl Mountain have adopted this site in order to clean it up and clear the site of alien species.
Please bring gloves, a pick, garden fork, spade/shovel, tree popper and handsaw.
There are jobs for the strong and the not-so-strong, so everyone will have something to do. Please bring your own refreshments.
Please note that all activities are at own risk. For further information, contact Gael Campbell-Young on 872-8672 or 084-793-2876 or tpcyoung@xsinet.co.za.
