2010-08-19

CELEBRATED South Korean pianist Young-Choon Park will take to the Nederburg stage on August 29 at 17:00 with a programme of sonatas by Scarlatti, Schubert and Chopin.

A child prodigy, Park gave her first full recital when she was seven years old and at the tender age of nine she played Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra.

She went on to study music at the Juilliard School in New York before gaining a master’s degree at the Hochschule in Munich.

Since 1993 she has toured extensively – giving over 50 concerts a year in Europe, Scandinavia and the United States. Her performances have been broadcast for radio and television in many countries, and she has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras.

Throughout her travels Park has received critical acclaim for the sensitivity and refinement of her recital and concerto performances.

) The next Nederburg concert on September 19 features the Cape Town-based Taffanel Trio (comprising flutist Marietjie Pauw, clarinettist Annamarie Bam and pianist Benjamin van Eeden). The Trio’s programme will include works by Debussy and Dmitri Shostakovich.

Tickets for the Nederburg concerts are R150 including a welcoming drink and a light supper served with fine Nederburg wines.

Bookings can be made by calling Sonja Morkel on 021-809-8344 or Irma Albers on 021-809-8106.
