AN acting school for kids, The Playhouse, will open its doors in January and youngsters are invited for the audition to be held on 10 September at the Old Mill Theatre.
There will be open days for the rest of this year for parents and children to come and hear more about the courses and for the kids to audition/interview, after which parents can sign them up. There is a R100 enrolment fee.
The course include professional acting, auditioning, monologues, improvisation, TV acting, comedy, presenting, puppetry, mask work and much more in English only (catering for 3 to 18-year-olds).
Each course consists of seven levels and each level is 16 weeks, running concurrently with school term times. One level for pre-school, juniors or seniors fundamentals is R350 per month and is one hour per week.
The senior professional course is two hours per week and is R550 per month.
The more levels you sign up to, the cheaper they become.
The courses are very vocational for aspiring young actors who want to get into the business and make acting their career, but they are also great for kids who want to have fun, improve their communication skills and build their confidence.
