THE Boland cross country team has been announced to compete at the ASA Cross Country Championships, which will take place at the Tshwane University in Pretoria on 11 September.

The Boland team consists of 64 athletes (37 male and 27 female) and will be the largest team ever to represent Boland Athletics at the 2010 SA Cross Country Championships.

Athletes from the Paarl-/Wellington area who were included in the Boland team, are: Boys 17 - Chriszando Jacobs (Nedbank/New Orleans); Ayanda Matshini (Ligstraal School); Boys 19 - Angelo Booysen (Berg River High School); Ferdie Geldenhuys (Hoër Landbouskool Boland); Men u.23 4km - Henrico Rooi (Nedbank AC); Azrial Scheepers (CPUT); Girls 16 - Anja Carosini (La Rochelle); Girls 17 - Natalie Hanekom (La Rochelle); Helena Visser (La Rochelle); Girls 19 - Moniquean Lombaard (La Rochelle).

These athletes will get an opportunity to qualify for the SA Cross Country Squad for the IAAF World Cross Country Champs.
