Gourmet glamour at the Bovril Black Tie dinner

2010-09-02

WITH just a couple of weeks to go before the start of this year’s Cultivaria arts festival with title sponsors FNB and Drakenstein Municipality, tickets are flying for the glamorous Bovril Black Tie gala dinner on 23 September.

The Bovril Black Tie gala dinner will offer gourmet glamour for festival-goers and will ensure that the Cultivaria festival gets off to an elegant start.
This extravagant open-air event has been voted as one of the top ten social events in the country by leading TV lifestyle programme Glitterati. Guests will once again have the opportunity to dine at the elegant 400-metre dinner table set in Paarl’s Main Street and can enjoy a tantalising three-course menu paired with true cultivar wines from the Simonsvlei Premier Selection range. A starter of smoked salmon and cream cheese roulade served with a micro salad and vierge salsa on a base of cucumber ribbons will be partnered with the 2010 Simonsvlei Sauvignon Blanc. The main course of slow braised shoulder of lamb on mint infused polenta, roast root vegetables and a mushroom and Bovril Jus will be the perfect accompaniment for Simonsvlei’s award-winning 2008 Shiraz. For a sweet finale, guests can enjoy a Humbro Hanepoot which will be served with a sublime emeraude of Vianessa pistachio biscuits, creamy vanilla mousse and a layer of Red Berry coulis served in a pool of crème anglaise with fresh raspberries and pomegranate rubies.

Leading catering and events management company Knights Catering will co-ordinate the event with the assistance of local chefs from De Oude Paarl Hotel, Marc’s Mediterranean Cuisine and Justin Patterson of Chef On Call.

Six satellite kitchens will be erected along the kerbside to serve the expected 1000 guests.

TV presenter Nico Panagio will be the host for the evening while the entertainment will be provided by the ever-popular tenors Jannie Moolman and Kevin Leo accompanied by the Frank Pietersen symphonic orchestra. Sultry songstresses Louise Carver and Myra Maud will ensure that guests experience a true evening of finesse.

Tickets cost R500 per person and include a welcoming drink and a three-course meal with a glass of wine per course as well as live performances. Only 200 tickets are still available, so early bookings are advised to avoid disappointment. Book online at www.culti varia.com.
Only credit card payments are accepted. For more information, contact the Cultivaria festival office on 021-872-9754.
