Clean-up Mbekweni River

A LOCAL company, VWS Envig, will be working in conjunction with the Drakenstein Municipality to clear up the river in Mbekweni on 17 September, as part of the Clean-Up SA campaign.
They challenge other companies, schools and organisations to join them at 08:00 on the bank of the river next to Jan van Riebeeck Drive, to remove litter from the river canal.
Some of the waste has started to decompose and some metal wastes have already corroded badly.
The waste being dumped in the river is not only a hazard to the residents living along the river, but is also a contributor to the pollution of the Berg River (enquiries 021-871-1877).
