Service traineeship programme

2010-09-16

THE focus of KWV’s social economic development programme is on skills development. Over the past two years, KWV has been recruiting and training unemployed youth in the Paarl and Worcester communities – specifically for employment in the hospitality sector.

KWV is now taking this targeted skills development project a step further, by offering study assistance to individuals who aspire to receive a formal, specialised qualification in the hospitality sector. KWV invites previously disadvantaged candidates to apply for in-service traineeship programmes.

KWV has partnered with The International Hotel School (IHS), the largest private hospitality training provider in the country, to assist candidates who are interested in working and studying in the hospitality and tourism sector. An in-service traineeship is an “earn while you learn” alternative to full-time tertiary education. Candidates are able to complete a two or three year diploma.

The in-service traineeship comprises of practical training in the workplace and theoretical study. Trainees spend two or three years training in a work environment receiving on the job training and continuous assessment against a nationally recognised standard. For application forms, contact The International Hotel School in Cape Town and ask for Liza Classen on 021-555-6000 or send a fax to 021-555-6020 or e-mail lizac@hotelschool.co.za. For information on KWV financial assistance contact Stakeholder Relations Manager, Zanele Xaba, on 807-3353 or xaba@kwv.co.za.
