Kloof clean-up
2005-09-29
CLEAN-UP campaign of the roadside to Bain’s Kloof was held by CapeNature, in partnership with Desmond Tutu Senior Secondary School.
A total of 105 learners and three teachers took part in the campaign that started near Antoniesvlei.
Learners were divided into three groups and they received gloves and plastic bags. Each group had to clean two parking spots, from one parking spot to another.
During the campaign, field rangers from Limietberg Nature Reserve explained the history of Limietberg, as well as the location and size of the reserve.
Short talks about fynbos, alien invasive plant species, litter, recycling and biodiversity were given. The day ended with a hot dog braai at Eerste Tol.
Campaigners thanked the Drakenstein Municipality for donating the black bags, and the Friends of Bain’s Kloof for donating the gloves.
