New flats snapped up
2005-03-17
A BLOCK of flats which is to be constructed in Paarl, was sold out in three days, six months before the rezoning was even advertised. The block of flats, Leilani Heights, is to be constructed in Malherbe Street, on the site of the former AGS Church.
The church building is currently being demolished after the congregation sold it and bought the former Protea Cinema for services.
According to developer Maynhard van der Westhuizen, the five-storey building will consist of 30 two-bedroom flats with one bathroom each. The flats have sold for between R450 000 and R520 000 (excluding garages).
All the flats will face north onto Malherbe Street and the ground floor flats will have private gardens. Access to the premises will be controlled by security gates.
The planning of the face-brick building is handled by Procon in Ceres. Objections to the rezoning, if any, must reach the Municipality by 29 March.
