A DRAKENSTEIN municipal employee, storeman Lodewyk Jonkers, was caught red-handed using a municipal vehicle for a private outing out-side the boundaries of the municipality, when he crashed the Nissan 1400 bakkie on the N1 near Kraaifontein.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and the “disappearance” of the vehicle was only discovered a few days later. Jonkers has been banned from driving municipal vehicles while the matter is under investigation.
