Narrow escape
2010-10-15
A hang-glider had a narrow escape last week, when he ploughed into a cliff on Franschhoek Pass. The glider, Louis Koen (30) from Cape Town, was gliding close to the mountain on Wednesday afternoon, when he came too close to the rock-face and crashed. He was fortunate enough to only have sustained a fractured ankle. Although Koen was within 200m from the road, he had to be airlifted due to the ruggedness of the terrain. He was treated at Paarl Hospital.
