Paarl Police College turns 20
2010-10-15
THE South African Police Services Management and Development Institute in Paarl will be celebrating it’s 20th birthday in style this week. Celebrations kick off on Friday with a lavish street parade. On Saturday there will be an open day at the academy, with police displays, a street market, a beer tent and various stalls. The SAPS took over the reigns at the Paarl Teachers’ College in 1990, transforming this college into a top-class establishment for the training of police officers. It opened its door on 2 January of that year, with the aim of advanced training for police officers, offering the former Candidate Officers’ course and Detective Training. The Paarl Institute is now a training institution with a diverse skills base and it has considerable responsibility towards the SAPS in its entirety. The daily task of the Institution is to train, educate and develop the officers corps in support of the operational, as well as the organisational priorities of the national police force. All are welcome to come and enjoy the fun-filled activities over the weekend. For more information, contact Wickus Brits or Sanette Kriel at 021-807-4960/021-807-9000 during office hours.
