ASCENSION. The largest suspended sculpture in South Africa, ‘Ascension’, was unveiled above the Artist’s Studio at 136 Main Street, Paarl. The sculpture is part of the exhibition entitled Life & Light which can be seen until 23 October at the studio and the sculptor is Charles Frank. Made out of metal, almost three metres in length and suspended almost twenty metres in the air, ‘Ascension’ is fitted with internal and external lighting with slow heartbeat-like pulse movements to depict the rising of an ascended human soul into the heavens. The exhibition also features work of artists like Selwyn Pekeur, Kerwin Cupido, Jeffrey Appolis, Glenn Cox and Adele Claudia Fouché.
