THE MAN Vintners Shiraz 2008 has been included in the Top 100 best buys of 2010 list recently released by the Wine Enthusiast Magazine (USA), in position 30 and the first South African red wine on the list!
According to the review the wine is “drinkable now, though could age for another year or two.”
The “velvet texture” of this wine results from grapes sourced from the mainly bush-vine, dry-land vineyards of the Perdeberg region in Agter-Paarl.
This is the second consecutive vintage that the MAN Shiraz has been included in the Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 best buy list: the MAN Shiraz 2007 was included in the Top 100 best buys of 2008 list at position 34.
With a splash of Viognier added in during fermentation, and a 50% barrel component (25% of the barrels were new), the MAN Vintners Shiraz 2008 is a modern-styled Shiraz priced for everyday consumption.
It retails for around $9.99 in the USA and R45 in South Africa.
MAN Vintners does not have a tasting room, but the wines are available for free tasting and purchase at the Joostenberg Deli, off the N1 on the R304 towards Stellenbosch.
