THE Industry Association for the Responsible Use of Alcohol (ARA) would like to initiate a project that focuses on addressing the legacy of alcohol abuse among previously disadvantaged people living and working in the wine industry, through a holistic intervention facilitated by the formal, existing structures in the industry and involving all stakeholders.
The ARA will act as project sponsor and will manage the process and outputs via a steering committee.
The project should empower and equip wine and grape producers to address the legacy of alcohol abuse on their farms through positive interventions that support the creation of a healthy, sustainable community.
It is envisaged that a project will be developed and implemented in a pilot area, with a limited number of wine cellars participating.
Once this has been established and tested, the project will be rolled out over the long term to other geographical wine areas.
Proposals will be accepted from parties that can show experience and success in developing projects, have a proven track record in management of social projects and can bring on board a variety of stakeholders.
The applicant must have knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, while knowledge of the wine industry will be advantageous.
For details, contact Liezle Cameron-Kolala, Liaison Officer of the Industry Association for Responsible Alcohol Use (ARA), at 021-886-4329 or visit www.ara.co.za. the deadline is Tuesday 9 November.
