THE Boland Al-Azhar Cycle Tour, sponsored by the Islamic Relief that was held for the second time last Sunday at the Parys Cricket Grounds, was attended by 220 cyclists.

More than a 100 kids also took part in the junior races and organisers were overwhelmed by the response.

Many of the Cape Town cycling clubs such as Spartans, Cape Town Giants, Mohamadiyah and many other clubs and other social cyclists from Paarl and the surrounding areas took part in the event.

In the 80km race Brandon Christians took first place with prize money of R1500, followed by Marius September (R1000) and Reginald Benjamin (R500).

Jean-Claude Jantjies (R800) took the honours in the 45km race followed by Graeme Ockhuis (R500) and Ayoob Isaacs (R300).
