Somalian attacked
2010-11-04
ANOTHER Somalian shop owner has become the victim of an armed robbery, but this time the attack turned violent. This comes barely a week after three armed men dressed in dark blue security guard uniforms robbed a shop in Erongo Street, Egoli. One shot was fired during the incident, but no one was injured. The latest incident took place on Sunday evening in Ntlazane Street, New Rest. Two men entered the shop of Saney Mammud and indicated that they wanted to buy air time. As Mammud bent down to get the airtime vouchers under the counter, he realised he was staring down the barrel of a firearm. He was told to lie down while one of the suspects went further into the building where the suspect came across another Somalian, Abdi Rahman, and fired a shot into his chest. The men then fled with R1000 in cash. Rahman is being treated at Paarl Hospital, were he is in a satisfactory condition. No arrests have been made.
