A PAARL cyclist, Adriaan Louw, and Louis-Bresler Knipe of team Contego Elite, continued their winning streak in Onrus last Sunday when they completed stage three of the Contego Wines2Whales mountain-bike race in an impressive time of 3 hours 33 minutes and 30 seconds. Their impressive combined race time over the three day period was 10 hours 33 minutes 39 seconds, securing them the overall men’s championship title. “Stage three was tough,” says Louw. “The route featured quite a lot of flat sections, which gave the roadies an advantage and resulted in Louis and I having to work extra hard to keep up. We are both, however, stronger on the hills and used these sections to our advantage. “This is the first time that Louis and I rode together as a team, as we are usually racing on opposing sides. Our riding styles complimented each other really well from stage one through to stage three. Louis is good at keeping me focused. “This will definitely not be our last race together. We are very thankful to Contego for giving us the opportunity to take part in the Wines2Whales Race. We had a great time,” says Louw.
