IT’S time to haul out your picnic blankets and food hampers for this years final outdoor Nederburg Concert Series on 27 November at 17:00.
In a break from tradition, Nederburg’s annual picnic concert will take place on a Saturday afternoon and will feature the multitalented musicians Niel Rademan and Anna Davel, accompanied by Stanislav Anguelov on the accordion, Wilken Calitz on violin, Andrew Ford on piano and Willie van Zyl on sax, clarinet and flute. Together their artistic collaboration will pay homage to genres that span the musical spectrum in a concert entitled Swing, Classic, Cabaret and all that Jazz - offering musical fare for every palate. They promise a feast of music with a vibrant mix of popular and classical favourites combining it with a few jazz standards and songs made famous by Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour, as well as traditional music from across the world.
Theatre-maker, director and cabaret singer, Rademan has been described as a “performance beast” because of his passion and versatility. Davel’s solo career has gone from strength to strength and her mellifluous vocal style has led to her being in constant demand as a vocalist.
Gates open at 15:00. Tickets for the concert are R80 (children under 12 years will be admitted free of charge). Nederburg picnic platters can be pre-ordered at R100. You can bring your own picnic baskets, but are requested not to bring wine, as Nederburg wines will be available.
