Crowned as Boland marathon champion

DETERMINATION is giving domestic worker Dumisani Dosi many milestones to brag about. Dumisani, from Cala in the Eastern Cape, now working as a contract worker at the Police Academy in Paarl, dreamed as a young boy of becoming a top runner in South Africa. This year he was crowned as the Boland marathon champion, Paarl Athletics Club’s most improved road runner for 2010 and their Sportsman of the Year. This year,at the age of 31, his running career took off when he was identified as having great potential by Lt-Col Mike Caldecott of the Academy. He is being assisted in various aspects of his athletics career by Caldecott and Sybrand du Plessis of the Paarl Athletics Club. In the short space of one year he has performed remarkably. He was 3rd in the PPC marathon in Riebeek West, 4th in the Foot of Africa marathon in Bredasdorp and 5th in the Wynland marathon in Stellenbosch.
