PAARL MEDIA is currently recruiting for the February 2011 intake of the apprenticeship programme, offered for the first time through the Paarl Media Academy of Print. Successful applicants will be able to receive an income whilst working towards an internationally certified trade qualification. To complement its investment in leading edge technology across its ten plants, Paarl Media has established a world class technical training facility in Paarl, where students will spend their first six months completing theoretical training, offered by experienced facilitators, coaches and mentors from with-in the Group. Thereafter, they will work for the following 18 months at one of Paarl Media’s plants where the core experiential component of the training is completed prior to undergoing the trade test. Apprenticeships offered cover specialised fields, which require a high level of skills and understanding of the process and equipment involved. The Academy is an Institute of Sectoral and Occupational Excellence (ISOE) and is an accredited training provider with MAPPP SETA. Training modules will carry local as well as international accreditation from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and the City & Guilds of London Institute. The minimum educational requirement for applicants is Grade 12 with Mathematical Literacy or an equivalent qualification, while Physical Science would be an advantage. You also need to have good communication skills in English as the practical and theoretical training is officially presented in English. Successful completion of the Farnsworth Munsell colour test is a compulsory prerequisite. The successful applicants will be contracted as apprentices through MAPPP SETA.
