THE Winelands Choir presents a concert on 19 December at the Bethel Congregational Church at 18:00 with music for all tastes - from Handel, Mozart, Dvorak, Bruckner and Kodaly to John Rutter, H and J Joubert, Lettie Oellerman and G Cillié.
The choir consists of former members of the Paarl/Wellington Regional Choir, and former teachers and students of the Frank Pietersen Music Centre who got together in a tribute in song for the late Norma Norman, who served both institutions diligently as secretary for many years.
Ivan le Kay, one of the founder members of the Music Centre and first conductor of the Paarl/Wellington Regional Choir when it was established in 1986, is again leading this new choir.
The members of this new choir decided to start singing just for the love of singing and to use opportunities to bring warmth in the hearts of people again as it did to thousands in the past.
The choir is blessed with talent that developed from being choristers many years ago, to singers and instrumentalists in their own right. Stephen Jephthas performs regularly on the clarinet. Jo-Nette le Kay (dramatic colloratura soprano), Samantha Kulsen (light coloratura soprano) and Samantha Adams (lyric soprano) are all singers in this new choir.
Tickets R30 (R15 for children under 12) are available from the secretary Samantha Kulsen (076-948-8542) or assistant secretary Stephen Jephthas (083-521-5466).
