“TODAY marks the dawn of a beautiful and historic day in the Water Sector with 267 Process Controllers gathering in the Boland, the first for the Western Cape and thus far the biggest,” said Ronald Brown, Drakenstein Municipality Engineer for Waste Services, at the Process Controllers Open Day at the Waste Water Treatments, whereby recognition was given to all the Process Controllers within South Africa.
“The concept of the Process Controller Open Day was endorsed by the Water Institute of Southern Africa as there is a serious need for the capacitating of this important people looking after Water and Wastewater Infrastructures and effect to potable water quality and discharge effluent quality into our water resources,” said Brown.
“The Process Controllers are the most important people as they have to operate millions of rands of infrastructure, but do not get the recognition or suitable training to operate these facilities which is so widely publicised in the media.
The newly established Young Water Professionals fulfill the present and future needs of the water and wastewater industries require the continuous development of a workforce which is both adequate in size, capable in skills and strong in leader- ship.
