TOMORROW Drakenstein Municipality, in collaboration with Bright Idea Projects, is hosting the final round of the Drakenstein Community Games 2010 at the Dal Josaphat Stadium. The Community Games was first launched by the Drakenstein Municipality in 2006 as a pilot project to provide coaching clinics through sport to combat social deficiencies within the local communities. The community games slogan for 2010, Celebrating 5 Years of Youth Sports Development, is attached to complement the growth in structure and competencies forming and sustaining the objectives of sport versus crime, health and nation building. The community games is a structured sport and recreational program which features mini rugby, mini soccer, mini cricket, netball, athletics (100m, 200m and 400m), indigenous games and cultural activities (hip hop, kwaito, and rhythm training) for age groups from u.6 to u.19. Bright Idea Projects has been implementing measurable success through projects regarding sports and recreation for the Drakenstein Municipality to enable talent identification programs for the local communities in Drakenstein.
