FOUR people became victims of violence in the area over the past weekend.
On Monday morning, a resident of Silver Town, Mbekweni, made a grizzly discovery, when he discovered the body of a woman hidden in black plastic bags which were dumped on a rubbish heap. The body had been dumped behind the Lukanyo Community Centre
The woman had been stabbed four times with a knife.
She was later identified by her sister as Sisepho Manxima (29). No one has currently been arrested in connection with the incident, but Mbekweni police are retracing her last steps over the weekend, when she was seen in the company of a man.
On Friday afternoon, an argument broke out between Bongani Mbeta (28), in Chris Hani, also in Mbekweni. The younger man allegedly produced a knife and stabbed Mbeta in the chest. He died on the scene.
On Friday evening Groot Drakenstein Police arrested a 29-year-old man, also for murder.
The murder allegedly took place on Allee Bleue farm when Bernard Davids (26) of the adjacent Meerlust forestry village, and Frans Beat became involved in a quarrel. It is alleged by an eye-witness that the suspect stabbed Davids with a knife in the chest. Davids was rushed to Paarl Hospital, but passed away on arrival.
Beat appeared in the Franschhoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of murder.
In Wellington Rudawaan Festus (27) was stabbed to death, allegedly over R5. John Miller (42) was arrested.
